Shri Ramcharitmanas, is an epic poem in the language of Awadhi, composed by the 16th-century Indian poet, Goswami Tulsidas (c.1532–1623). Ramcharitmanas literally means the lake of the deeds of Rama. It is a poetic retelling of Valmiki Ramayana also called the Tulsi Ramayan. This beautiful Ramcharitramanas covers Dharma, Knowledge and Devotion insights which can awaken our hearts and minds.
Over 7 days (a saptah), Swami Shantananda ji, the head of Chinmaya Mission West and a senior disciple of Pujya Swami Chinmayananda took us through this inspiring epic. Along with his discourses, we also had chanting, bhajans, puja and prasad. In addition, the special occasions of Rama’s birth, Rama-Sita wedding and Rama’s coronation were celebrated in a very grand manner.
- The Saptah started with a Pothi Puja, followed by a grand procession accompanied by traditional chenda melam, the percussion ensemble from Kerala.
- The discourse started with the narration of Narada’s story, which was the starting point for Lord Narayana to commit taking a human birth and appear as Lord Ram at the Kingdom of Ayodhya….
