What is JoY?

Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra (JoY) is the first CHYK West project which will encompass the entirety of Chinmaya Mission West. This initiative will be done as an offering to our Pujya Gurudev for his Centennial Celebrations. The purpose, objectives and overview of the Jyothi Yatra (JoY) is explained in a brief document attached. Please also watch the attached video for an introduction of JoY.

Chinmaya Mission West has been divided into 4 regions - South, Midwest, Northeast, West Coast. Each region will have one Jyoti (lamp) under the guidance of one of the four Acharyas: Swami Ishwaranandji, Brahmachaari Girishji, Acharya Vivekji, and Acharya Dhirenji. A route has been mapped for each region. The Jyoti will travel along the route, remaining within each center on the route for the duration of one month. Under the guidance of the local Board members, the CHYK/Junior CHYK groups will take on the responsibility of planning, advertising, and implementing events at each center during the month in which the Jyoti is hosted there. The host center may conduct a Paduka Puja Series at Devotee’s Home, The GURUDEV – Musical (which can be viewed below ) , a Yuva Rhythms Music Night, a Jnana Sangam Interfaith Dialogue and Mela, an ART EXHIBITION ON Gurudev’s Names, Acharya Discourses, Inspiration Satsangs, a He Did It Tournament, a Jyoti Yatra-A-Thon March, the On A Quest Biopic on Gurudev, and finally a Samashti Paduka Puja at the Mission Center. Each center’s celebrations will end with a grand Samashti Paduka Puja for Gurudev, conducted by one of the four Acharyas overseeing the Yatra in that region. This event will conclude with the Jyoti moving to the next center along the route. The month long celebration of the Jyoti Yatra events at each mission will be organized by the local CHYK groups under the guidance of the CHYK West Core and Yuvaveer liaisons.
